What I’m Reading
Paper Towns by John Green.
Green writes young adult books that I can get into, and what is more rare, appreciate. I did not like this one as much as Fault in Our Stars, but it is the kind of read that would be nice to take on an airplane (which is what I bought it for, half price, but I had an open weekend and it was sunny outside so there you go).
There were sections that felt like Green just needed to get from point A to point B, but I think his strength is his ability to write well-crafted characters.
Also…there is this part on page 256:
“Oh. My. God. That tastes like hope feels.”
Which is exactly how I feel about the mac and cheese from The House I had last week.

Today Eve made a friend, an especially courageous and congenial snail she called Snailza.
For an hour Eve held Snailza close, whispering wise words about the world and its wonders into her tiny friend’s listening, twitching tentacles. Eve fell in love fast and hard.
Then, Eve’s mom pried Snailza off the bedroom bookcase and told her snails could not live in the house. Eve cried as she waved goodbye, freeing the snail into the front yard wild. She cried in her carseat all the way to Taco Market. At lunch, through tears, Eve asked for prayers and her family prayed that God would help Eve have joy.
Later, listening to Eve’s loud laugh, Eve’s mom said, “Eve! You’re so happy! God gave you joy!”
And Eve said. “Yes,” nodding slowly. “He told me to stop crying.”Loading...
